Akimasa Hayashi

Akimasa Hayashi, MD, PhD, is a pathologist and Professor of Integrative Physiology at Kyorin University School of Medicine, Japan. He received his MD and PhD from The University of Tokyo, where he also completed his clinical fellowship in pathology following residency training at the University of Tokyo Hospital.
Dr. Hayashi conducted foundational research at The University of Tokyo and further expanded his work at the Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (the Iacobuzio-Donahue Lab). After returning to Japan, he has continued and advanced his research at Kyorin University through ongoing collaborations with leading institutions, including RIKEN, The University of Tokyo, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
He is a member of the Japanese Society of Pathology and was awarded the Academic Award from the Japanese Society of Pathology in 2026. His work integrates histopathology with advanced molecular and translational approaches to improve the understanding and clinical management of pancreatic cancer.
